RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– A woman has been arrested in connection with her neighbor’s death, according to RCSD.
Sheriff Leon Lott says Alexis Wider was arrested for murder following a shooting that happened on Thursday, December 9.
On December 9, just before 8 a.m., Richland County deputies responded in the 400 block of Percival Road in reference to a person being shot.
When deputies arrived to the scene, they were led to the victim by a family member.
Deputies saw a male victim with at least one gunshot would in the torso area and began to provide life-saving care until EMS arrived.
EMS took the victim to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries two days later.
RCSD deputies at the scene identified the suspected shooter as Alexis Wider, who had already left the scene before they arrived.
So, an alert to be on the lookout for Wilder’s vehicle went out to Richland County Sheriff’s Department deputies.
Less than an hour later, deputies spotted Wider’s vehicle and conducted a traffic stop where Wider who was driving was taken into custody, according to the sheriff’s department.
Wider was taken to Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center and originally charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime.
Since the passing of the victim, Wider’s charges were upgraded to murder.
