Sumter man charged for firing gun in Myrtle Beach on New Year’s Eve, police say

A Sumter man was charged after police say he fired a gun just before midnight on New Year’s Eve in Myrtle Beach.

Officers from the Myrtle Beach Police Department responded to a report of a weapons discharge on the 400 block of South Kings Highway late Tuesday night.

The incident occurred at 11:58 p.m. on December 31, 2024.

No injuries were reported, police said.

Following an investigation, Michael David McCombs, 46, of Sumter, South Carolina, was charged with discharging a firearm within the city limits of Myrtle Beach.
