King Day at the Dome is back at the State House on MLK Day!
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Several South Carolinians will be marching for change at the annual King Day at the Dome Monday.
The Prayer Service starts at 8 a.m. at the Zion Baptist Church, 801 Washington Street.
The march to the State House will start around 9:30 and the King Day rally is set to start at 10 o’clock.
Curtis spoke with SC NAACP Historian James Felder about how this event honors the legacy Dr. King left behind in the community.
He also talked about this year’s theme, “There’s No Winning in Giving Up,” which highlights resilience in the civil rights movement.
Democratic National Committee Chair Jaime R. Harrison will deliver the keynote address, alongside other speakers advocating for justice and equality.
Event officials say for safety purposes, no backpacks will be allowed. Only clear bags are accepted for all bag/purse sizes.
