School closings, delays for Thursday
Midlands schools announce closings, delays for Thursday
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Due to road conditions still not being fully open and safe in areas around the Midlands, many schools and universities are switching to E-Learning Days or closing on Thursday.
Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 21, most of the south was seen with snowfall including the Midlands.
SCHOOL CHANGES LIST:
Calhoun Co. Schools and offices will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Claflin University will operate on a delayed start Thursday, Jan. 23. (Morning classes – Virtual; Afternoon classes @ 12:30 p.m. in person; Campus Offices open @ Noon)
Clarendon Co. Schools will continue with E-Learning on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Columbia College will operate on a delayed start, and normal operations will begin at 12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Columbia International University will open at noon Thursday Jan. 23.
Fairfield Co. Schools will be closed on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Kershaw Co. Schools will have an E-learning Day on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Lee Co. Schools will operate on an E-learning Day Thursday Jan. 23. (All after school programs, events, and trips canceled)
Lexington One will move to E-learning Thursday, Jan. 23.
Lexington Three will move to E-learning Thursday, Jan. 23.
Lexington Two will move to E-learning Thursday, Jan. 23.
Lexington-Richland Five will be closed Thursday, Jan. 23.
Midlands Technical College campuses will open at 12 p.m., and classes will begin at 12:45 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23.
Newberry Co. Schools will operate on a 2-hour delay for Thursday. So all buses will run 2 hours later also, and so will office buildings.
Orangeburg Co. Schools will be closed Thursday, Jan. 23.
Richland One Schools will be closed Thursday, Jan. 23.
Richland Two Schools will move to E-learning Thursday, Jan. 23.
Sumter Co. Schools will be closed Thursday, Jan. 23.
University of South Carolina’s Columbia campus will remain closed until 12 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 23.
