Sumter student arrested for allegedly making threats to local school through social media
SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sumter County deputies along with an agent from the FBI detained a 13-year-old juvenile suspect for allegedly making threats to a local school through social media, said investigators.
The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office said on Saturday, Jan. 25, around 7 p.m. the student was arrested.
Deputies said this is the second incident of social media threats made in Sumter County in the last eight days.
And that charges were filed on Jan. 16, for the same charges.
Even though the incidents are similar, SCSO investigators do not believe they are connected.
This juvenile has been petitioned to Family Court for adjudication.
Sheriff Dennis emphasized that he and his office will continue to be proactive in protecting all citizens especially the children.
