Costco, Teamsters reach tentative contract agreement, avoiding strike

(CNN)– Costco and the Teamsters Union struck a tentative agreement early Saturday morning, Feb. 1, as thousands of workers prepared to go on strike.

Full terms of the deal were not immediately available.

Now, some of the union’s demands included wages, benefits, paid family leave and safeguards against surveillance.

The Teamsters Union represents about 18,000 workers, which is about 8% of Costco’s employees in the US.

The strike would have affected 56 stores across six states which would have been the largest strike ever at an American retail chain.
