Columbia Police investigating train vs. pickup truck overnight collision on Phillips Street
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO) – Authorities are investigating an overnight collision that involved a train and a pickup truck, according to CPD.
It happened before 4:30 a.m. in the 3400 block of Phillips Street, and Sunset Drive.
Columbia Police say an Amtrak train was traveling northbound on the CSX railway heading to North Carolina, when a truck driver traveling westbound drove around the crossing arms that had signal lights activated and was hit by the train.
The Richland County Coroner’s Office is helping the Columbia PD with the case.
