Head Start programs can’t access funds
(CNN)– The National Head Start Association says roughly 40 of its programs across 20 states have not regained access to their federal funding.
Head Start helps nearly 800,000 low-income children from birth to age 5, and their families.
The programs were briefly denied funding access when the Trump Administration issued a funding freeze last week.
The association’s deputy director says at least two head start programs have now shut down.
Officials say some other programs managed to remain open thanks to state and local funding.
