Carolina for All calls for key bills to be passed during legislative session
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Advocates with a group known as “Carolina for All” are calling for action on key bills that they believe will help protect democracy throughout South Carolina.
Members held a press conference on Thursday afternoon (Feb. 6), to discuss four bills they hope to see passed this legislative session.
The first calls for the establishment of “Wage Boards” which would investigate specific occupations and ensure that employees are receiving fare pay.
The second would provide inmates who are allowed to work with minimum wage, with a percentage going to pay any child support obligations.
The remaining two bills involve election efficiency and integrity by establishing rank-choice voting and stronger laws against voter interference.
Any legislation filed in the South Carolina House must pass to the Senate before April 10th to have a chance of making it through this first session.
