Google to end DEI hiring targets

(CNN)– Google is the latest major corporation to scale back its DEI commitments.

In an email to employees on Wednesday, Feb. 6, Google said it will eliminate hiring goals that are tied to ensuring diversity within the company.

Changes to other programs and initiatives are being evaluated although Google said its internal employee resource groups will remain.

Other companies including Meta, Walmart and McDonald’s have also recently changed or walked back commitments related to diversity, equity and inclusion.

It comes as the Trump Administration has criticized those efforts.
