COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– The South Carolina Black History Parade & Festival is returning for the 20th year.

The 20th annual “Karamu! Celebrate!” statewide Black History Parade and Festival will be held on Saturday, Feb. 22, in Columbia in the historic Waverly and Five Points communities.

Officials say the grand marshal for 2025 will be Senator Maggie Glover, who is the first African American woman to be elected senator.

During the event, grand marshals, parade participants, local entertainers and vendors from across the state and past years will come again to participate in the grand finale of the event. 

There will also be a comedy special performance by Comedian Annie McKnight.

Parade participants and vendors are still being accepted and registration continues.

Applications to be a part of the event are due by Friday, Feb. 14.
