Amazon to surpass Walmart revenue

(CNN)– Amazon could be on its way to becoming the world’s largest retailer.

You may think it’s already there because Amazon’s market capitalization has long been higher than Walmart’s.

But Sam Walton’s company is still considered by many the biggest retailer because of its revenue.

This quarter though, Amazon is expected to report $187 billion in sales

Walmart is forecast to bring in $180 billion.

Still, most analysts measure revenue on an annual basis, and Walmart is expected to hit $681 billion for last year.

Amazon is forecast to come in short of that, at $638 billion.
