Richland County coroner identifies victim of single-vehicle collision

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Coroner Naida Rutherford has released the name of the victim of a single-vehicle collision that happened on Thursday.

The collision happened on Thursday, Feb. 6, on Alpine Road, around 4:40 p.m.

According to Coroner Naida Rutherford, the victim was identified as Matthew R. Putnam, 17, of Columbia.

SC Highway Patrol says Putnam was traveling north on Alpine Road when he attempted to overtake another collision, ran off the right side of the road, and hit a pole.

“Our thoughts and prayers are with this family over their devastating loss. We will continue working with the South Carolina Highway Patrol to fully investigate this collision.” Coroner Rutherford states.
