3 officers resign, police chief to retire in Town of Summerton

SUMMERTON, S.C. (WOLO)– Three officers and the police chief will be leaving the Summerton Police Department this year, according to town officials.

The Town of Summerton announced that three of the police department’s officers have resigned, along with Police Chief Donnell Dixon retiring in April.

Chief Dixon will retire on April 18, 2025.

According to the town council, a recruitment campaign to fill the vacancies will begin soon.

Officials say, discussions with the Clarendon County Sheriff to make sure the area will still be patrolled and helped during the transition period has begun.
