ASGDC guard charged after incident with inmate, says RCSD

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– An Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center guard has charged after an incident with an inmate, RCSD says.
According to Sheriff Leon Lott, the sheriff’s department was made aware by jail staff of an incident that happened on Jan.1, between an inmate and 41-year-old Ken Igboka.
RCSD says the investigation revealed that on Jan. 1, Igboka became involved in a physical altercation with an inmate.
The inmate received minor injuries during the altercation and Igboka did not report the incident.
Igboka was arrested on Wednesday, Feb. 12, and charged with misconduct in office and assault and battery 2nd degree.
He was booked at ASGDC.
Following the announcement of Igboka’s arrest, the county released a statement.

Upon learning of an alleged incident involving one of its officers, Officer Ken Igboka, the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center leadership promptly involved the Sheriff’s Department for an investigation to be conducted. The Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center cooperated with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department throughout the duration of the investigation, which led to Mr. Igboka’s arrest. Following his arrest, ASGDC placed him on leave without pay and recommended for termination.
