Tariffs could impact U.S. craft beer
(CNN)– Your favorite local brewery could take a hit from President Donald Trump’s newly announced tariffs on steel and aluminum imports.
The proposed 25% tariffs are expected to negatively affect craft brewers by driving up the cost of materials used to brew, house, and serve beer like kegs and steel tanks.
According to sales data from the Brewers Association, beer in aluminum cans accounted for about 75% of craft breweries’ packaged volume and revenue, and a good number of the beer cans come from Canada.
