(WCIV) — A judge sentenced Angel Vause to 18 years in federal prison Thursday for her involvement in the 2009 murder of 17-year-old Brittanee Drexel.
The sentencing comes after Vause pleaded guilty to three counts of lying to federal agents about her whereabouts when Drexel was raped and murdered.
In August, Vause rejected a guilty plea.
Then, just a month later, she went to federal court for a change of plea hearing, and plead guilty to those three counts of lying to federal agents.
Raymond Moody, longtime boyfriend of Vause and the man convicted of the rape and murder of Drexel, was sentenced to life in prison in 2022.
Moody told the FBI Vause was present while he raped and killed Drexel.
Drexel’s family was in the courtroom during Vause’s September hearing when she formally pleaded guilty, and at the time, they said they plan to speak at her sentencing.
