Sumter police search for gunman in driveby shooting

Sumter Co., SC (WOLO) — The Sumter Police Department is investigating a shooting that took place around 6:30 Friday night. According to authorities, police were called to North Main street after a man was shot by a passing car while walking down the street.

Officials say the initial information that came in indicated that the 20 year old victim was walking on South Pike West when shots rang out striking the pedestrian at least once.

Authorities say the man was transported to the hospital and at last check was undergoing treatment.

Officials say at this point in their investigation there is no evidence that leads them to believe that this incident is related to a shooting that took place earlier Friday at the Walmart on Broad Street.
