Officials: Worker killed after trench collapse

According to the Newberry Co. Sheriff's Office, Fairview Fire and Lake Murray Rescue responded to the scene.

Newberry Co., S.C. (WOLO)– Officials in Newberry Co. say a worker has died after being buried in a ditch.

According to the Newberry Co. Sheriff’s Office, Fairview Fire and Lake Murray Rescue responded to the scene on Macedonia Church Rd.

Deputies say the worker had been laying a water line in a trench when it collapsed, trapping him.

All attempts to rescue the worker were unsuccessful.

The Newberry Co. Coroner’s Office identified the worker as Anthony Hollowman, 53, of Bishopville.
