CRFD: Second shift crews controls commercial facility roof fire

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Second shift crews with the Columbia-Richland Fire Dept., controlled a roof fire at a commercial facility Thursday evening, said the fire dept.

Firefighters responded to a fire on First Street S shortly before 9 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 20. When fire units arrived to the scene they found flames visible from the roof of the building.

An electrical issue caused part of the membrane of the roof to catch on fire, said CRFD. The fire did not get into the interior of the building.

Crews were able to get on the roof and put the fire out quickly. No one was injured.
