IRS warns against tax scams
(CNN)– The Internal Revenue Service has released its list of tax scams people should watch out for in 2025.
Topping the list are phishing scams, where fraudsters pose as legitimate organizations in the tax and financial community.
Unsolicited texts or emails are sent to lure unsuspecting victims into handing out their personal or financial information.
Another growing concern involves incorrect tax information on social media.
The IRS warns this can mislead people into bogus tax avoidance strategies and sometimes result in identity theft.
