Dept. of Ed investigates possible civil rights violations
(CNN) –The Department of Education is investigating at least 60 colleges and universities for possible civil rights violations.
The agency sent out letters to some of the country’s most prestigious institutions including all but two ivy league schools.
It warns of possible consequences for schools that fail to comply with policies aimed to protect Jewish students from antisemitic harassment and discrimination.
Protections for Jewish and other students fall under title six of the Civil Rights Act.
The announcement comes days after the Trump administration canceled 400-million dollars in federal grants and contracts to Columbia University.
The White House cited what it called that “school’s failure” to stop antisemitism on campus.
