Man linked to sale of meth in Sumter community arrested, Sumter Police say

 

SUMTER, S.C. (WOLO)– A Sumter man who is linked to the sale of methamphetamine in the Sumter community is in custody and charged, said Sumter Police.

Sumter Police officers say 22-year-old Jermaine Jy-Quan Smith Jr., was charged on Tuesday, March 11, in relation to trafficking 400 grams or more of meth, after weeks of an investigation by the Sumter Police Department and S.C. Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Officers say nearly $16,500 in cash and more than 1 pound of meth was found after warrants were served at two locations in association with Smith.

Smith is being held at the Sumter County Detention Center, where his bond was denied on Thursday morning, March 13.

Law enforcement say the investigation is ongoing.
