WATCH: Gamecock forward Kitts is primed to dominate in NCAA Tournament
Gamecock Forward Chloe Kitts is finding her strength.
After enrolling early at South Carolina in December 2022, Kitts is hitting her stride in year three.
South Carolina head coach Dawn Staley has seen Chloe Kitts take her game to another level this season.
“This is really who Chloe is,” Staley said. “She’s starting to play really consistent basketball. She wants the ball in her hands. She wants to be a playmaker. She wants to be the one who can score it or dish it to a teammate.”
A key factor in her growth? A commitment to strength training.
“The offseason for me was just staying in the weight room,” Kitts said. “I spend more time in the weight room than I do getting up extra shots because I realized that was more beneficial to me. I don’t need to be in the gym every night—I need to be in the weight room. That’s the biggest thing that has helped me.”
Her hard work is paying off, and her teammates have taken notice.
“Chloe’s versatile—she can do anything a guard can do,” said Gamecock forward Joyce Edwards. “She’s a mismatch. She’s making baskets. She’s being her. That’s what she usually does.”
“I think Chloe is a dog,” added forward Sania Feagin. “Inside, outside—whatever you tell her to do, she’s going to go and get that bucket. Total props to her… MVP well deserved.”
Kitts recently joined the history books, becoming just the second player in program history—alongside Gamecock great Aliyah Boston—to record a triple-double. Her parents have been there every step of the way, watching their daughter’s dedication pay off.
“All that hard work paid off. It’s Big Chloe now—not Little Chloe,” her mom said. “These are what dreams are made of, right? This is why we do what we do,” her dad added. “All the hours, all the years in the gym—just to watch her and her team have a moment like this—it’s priceless.”
With her confidence at an all-time high, Kitts is ready to be a major factor in South Carolina’s quest for back-to-back national championships.
“It just helps my confidence. I know I can do it, so I need to continue to do it.”
