(CNN)– Experts say it is not too late for the U.S. to avoid inflation and a potential economic slowdown.

That’s despite a grim new forecast, and members of the Trump Administration declining to predict if the U.S. will go into a recession.

April 2nd is when President Trump says he will unveil sweeping new tariffs.

He says they will offer negotiating leverage protection for some domestic industries, and a response to trade deficits.

A new report predicts, if U.S. businesses end up paying more tariffs that would lead to price hikes and a slower U.S. economy.
