RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Columbia-Richland Fire Department is reminding residents to always yield to emergency vehicles when they have lights and sirens on after a collision happened last night.

Fire officials said on Wednesday night, March 19, around 10 p.m. the crew of Engine 1-2nd Shift was on its way to a call when the engine was involved in a collision with another vehicle.

The collision happened at the intersection of Sumter and Laurel streets.

Rescue 1 responded to the collision and two firefighters who were on the vehicle at the time of the collision were taken to a nearby hospital by Richland County EMS for minor injuries.

The driver of the other vehicle was also taken to the hospital for treatment, according to CRFD.

The collision is being investigated by the Columbia Police Department.
