OCSO: 3 teens charged after breaking into more than a dozen vehicles
ORANGEBURG COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Sheriff Leroy Ravenell announced that three juveniles have been charged with breaking into more than a dozen vehicles.
Sheriff Ravenell said a 14-year-old and a 15-year-old, both from Orangeburg were initially charged with one count each of breaking and entering into a vehicle.
Those charges have since been updated to connect 14 counts of breaking and entering a vehicle and seven counts of malicious injury to personal property for them both.
So far Orangeburg County Sheriff’s investigators are aware of 38 cases of break-ins, according to OCSO.
The break-ins and damage to vehicles connected with the juveniles goes back to Wednesday, March 19, when a vehicle on Russell Street was broken into, said investigators.
However, the targeted areas have been identified as car dealerships, hospital, and the Citadel Road area off St. Matthews Road.
Additionally, a 16-year-old has been charged with a single count of breaking and entering a vehicle.
The three juveniles have been taken to the South Carolina Department of Juvenile Justice.
Ravenell said these arrests are the result of CRT (Community Response Team) and investigations operations in the targeted areas.
