Second death row inmate selects firing squad as method of execution

Columbia, S.C. (CNN)–A second death row inmate has chosen a firing squad for his execution.
Friday was the deadline for Mikal Mahdi to make a decision.
He is scheduled to be executed on April 11th.
In 2004, Mahdi shot and killed an off-duty police officer in Orangeburg County.
If the execution is carried out, Mahdi will become the second South Carolinian to die by firing squad this year.
