National Domestic Workers Alliance speak out at State House about medicaid services

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– At the State House on April 1, the National Domestic Workers Alliance spoke out about medicaid services.

According to a recent report, South Carolina has the third-longest waitlist in the country for medicaid-funded home and community based services.

The report also reveals gaps in access to care, severe workforce shortages, and the consequences of failing to invest in caregivers.

Care workers are asking lawmakers to pass legislation requiring a wage pass through, ensuring that at least 70% of medicaid HCBS funding goes directly to worker compensation.
