Trump halts plan for GLP-1 coverage
(CNN)– The Trump Administration is dropping a Biden-era proposal that aimed to expand medicare and medicaid coverage to include costly weight-loss drugs.
The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services did not explain why it was not finalizing the proposal.
But in a statement, the agency says it may consider future policy options after more review of the potential benefits and the relevant costs of the drugs.
The Biden Administration unveiled the proposed rule in November.
At the time, the former administration said the plan would expand access to the expensive medications to roughly seven million Americans.
