People across the state celebrate “Advocacy Day” at the State House
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– Tuesday morning (April 8), people from across the state came to Columbia to celebrate “Advocacy Day” at the SC State House.
Hosted by “The Access and Independence Network,” the event champions better healthcare, housing, employment, and transportation for people with disabilities.
Throughout the day, speakers and vendors from over 50 organizations provide guests with needed resources and information.
However, the group “Able South Carolina” believes the recent “Anti-DEI Bill” that passed in the house could have adverse effects on the disabled community.
That bill known as H3927 will now make its way to the Senate.
Kopp says she hopes senators will consider a bill known as S2 instead which they believe is a much better option for people with disabilities.
