SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Deputies say a Sumter County man was using 911 as his own personal ride-share service.

Investigators say several times over the past two weeks, James Mack called 911 for minor medical issues and would ride in an ambulance to the hospital, but then leave without receiving any treatment.

On Monday, April 7, deputies say they saw Mack leave the hospital without receiving treatment and found him hiding in a nearby church.

He is charged with unlawful use of 911.
