2 arrested in connection with Saturday Blythewood Road shooting

RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County deputies have arrested two people in connection with the Saturday Blythewood Road shooting, said the sheriff’s dept.

Deputies responded in the 200 block of Blythewood Road in reference to a shooting that happened just before 2 a.m. on Saturday, April 5.

When deputies arrived to the scene they found one victim with a gunshot wound in the lower body area and began providing life-saving treatment until EMS arrived, said RCSD.

Also, deputies discovered that several businesses on Blythewood Road between Main Street and McNulty had received property damage due to the shooting.

Due to public assistance after the department released video footage of the shooting investigators identified Darell Birch and Nahjere Suber as two of the shooters.

However, investigators believe there are more suspects involved.

RCSD is urging parents that believe that their child may have been involved to call the Richland County Sheriff’s Department at 803-576-3000 or take them in to the station.

On April 10, RCSD’s Fugitive Task Force and Special Response Team arrested both Darrell Birch and Nahjere Suber at their homes without incident.

Birch, and Suber were charged with breach of peace of a high and aggravated nature.

Both were taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
