State Treasurer Loftis petitions Supreme Court to stop removal hearing over $1.8b error
COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– State Treasurer Curtis Loftis says his attorneys have filed a petition with the State Supreme Court to weigh in on his removal hearing over a $1.8 billion accounting error.
Loftis has said “there was no missing money, no misspent money and no stolen money.”
Treasurer Loftis is challenging the Senate’s efforts to remove a constitutional officer based on a section of the state constitution.
The petition requests a stay of the Senate hearing which is set for April 21.
