Sumter Co. coroner identifies person who died of apparent drowning

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Sumter County Coroner’s Office has released the name of the person who died from an apparent drowning on Thursday, said the coroner’s office.

According to Coroner Robbie Baker, 52-year-old KongKeo Playsith died from an apparent drowning while on the Santee River near Packs Landing.

The incident happened around 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, April 17.

An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday at the Medical University in Charleston.

The Sumter County Coroner’s Office, and the SC Dept. of Natural Resources is investigating.
