Attorneys seek to seize assets of Brittanee Drexel’s killer to fulfill $700M judgment
(WPDE) — Attorneys for the mother of Brittanee Drexel are asking a judge to seize the assets of convicted killer Raymond Moody, after he failed to pay any portion of a $700 million civil judgment, according to newly filed court documents.
The filing, submitted April 17 by attorneys Aaron J. Angell and Kevin N. Molony, requests the court’s permission to seize Moody’s personal and real property in Georgetown County.
“I request that you satisfy the Judgment out of the personal property of the Defendant(s)… or if sufficient non-exempt personal property cannot be found, then out of the real property,” the motion states.
A judge has not yet ruled on the request.
In February 2025, a jury awarded $700 million in damages to Dawn Conley, Drexel’s mother. The verdict included $200 million in actual damages and $500 million in punitive damages.
Moody is currently serving a life sentence for the 2009 kidnapping, rape, and murder of Brittanee Drexel.
His girlfriend, Angel Cooper Vause, 57, was sentenced in February to 18 years in federal prison for lying to investigators during the investigation.
ABC15 has reached out to Conley’s attorneys for comment.
