South Carolina’s Teacher of the Year ceremony

 

COLUMBIA, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina’s teacher of the year is from right here in the Midlands.

In a ceremony this afternoon, (Thursday, April 24) Corey Bedenbaugh of Batesburg-Leesville Middle School received the honor.

In addition to his duties as an 8th grade history teacher, Corey also founded “Bow-ties with Bedenbaugh,” a mentorship program that teaches life skills to young men, he coaches JV girls’ basketball and sponsors the student council and fellowship of christian athletes.

The prize comes with $25,000 and the use of a brand new BMW for a year.
