Starbucks new tech shaves off 2 minutes

(CNN)– The Wall Street Journal reports Starbucks’ new drink-scheduling system has shaved two minutes off the average time to make a drink ordered inside cafes.

That was during testing at dozens of locations.

The company says three-fourths of orders during the busiest times at the test cafes were finished in four minutes or less, and it did not delay mobile orders.

Currently, baristas handle orders as they come in.

The aim of the new order scheduling algorithm is to determine sequencing across cafe counters, drive-thrus, and apps.
