Newberry College extends support to Limestone University community amid closure
(WCIV) — In a gesture of solidarity and support, Newberry College is reaching out to the Limestone University community, offering a range of benefits to ensure continuity and care for students, faculty, and staff during challenging times.
“At Newberry College, we believe in the power of community, compassion, and continuity,” said Dr. David Harpool, transitional president of Newberry College. “To the students, faculty, staff, and families of Limestone University—we see you, we support you, and we stand with you. As you navigate this season of change, we hope you find strength, opportunity, and renewed purpose in the days ahead.”
To assist Limestone students in continuing their academic pursuits without disruption, Newberry College is providing several benefits. These include guaranteed transfer credit for all completed coursework from Limestone, provided students meet the minimum GPA requirements and have passed their classes.
Additionally, Newberry is waiving enrollment fees to alleviate financial stress during the transfer process and offering an accelerated admissions process to help students secure their future efficiently. The college will also match general institutional aid awarded to Limestone students and offer automatic commuter status for those wishing to remain off-campus.
Support extends to Limestone faculty and staff as well. Newberry College is honoring tuition remission benefits for Limestone employees and their eligible dependents, ensuring a smooth transition. For those utilizing Limestone’s tuition remission benefit for the 2025–2026 academic year, Newberry will provide comparable access through its own remission program.
“At Newberry, we are not just opening our doors—we are opening our hearts,” Dr. Harpool added. “This is about more than preserving academic progress. It’s about extending dignity, hope, and belonging to those who need it most.”
