Real ID deadline looming near

(CNN)– Time is running out if you still haven’t secured your Real ID and the final scramble is on to get one.

Wednesday, May 7, is the deadline for Americans to obtain the specific form of identification.

After years of pushing it back the Department of Homeland Security is now set to enforce the deadline.

If you don’t have a Real ID or another accepted form of identification such as a passport you could face delays at airport security.

You can expect additional screening and the possibility of not being allowed beyond the security checkpoint if your identity cannot be verified.
