Deputies arrest man accused of stabbing person after argument

Sumter Co., SC (WOLO) — The Sumter County Sheriff’s Office responded to a home along U.S. 15 South where they say a man was stabbed following an argument.

Deputies say the incident happened Thursday night where they found the victim suffering serious injuries. The suspect, Juan Antonio – Chavez was discovered not far from the home and taken into custody. Authorities say they gave the victim aid until Emergency Medical Services (EMS) arrived on the scene.

A short time later deputies recovered a knife believed to be the weapon used in the stabbing. Antonio-Chavez has been charged with Attempted Murder and is currently being held at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center where his bond has been denied. The investigation is ongoing.
