Driver killed in collision with tractor-trailer on I-20 in Lexington

LEXINGTON, CO., S.C. (WOLO) – The South Carolina Highway Patrol says one person is dead following an overnight collision on I-20 East in Lexington.

It happened at mile marker 39 at 1:58 a.m.

According to Master Trooper Mitchell Ridgeway, a 2011 Volkswagen Sedan was travelling west in the eastbound lanes and hit a tractor-trailer head-on.

The Volkswagen driver died on scene from their injuries and the tractor-trailer driver was taken to the hospital.

The Lexington County Coroner’s Office is working on identifying the victim.

Troopers say the road is now cleared.

This incident remains under investigation.
