Dominion Energy brings energy-saving program to Pelion
CAYCE, S.C. (WOLO)– Dominion Energy is bringing their energy saving program that may be able to help hundreds of eligible Pelion customers.
According to the Electric Company, more than 700 customers throughout Pelion neighborhoods could qualify for free energy saving products and services. The new option was kicked off with an event to introduce some residents to the Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program, also known as NEEP. The initiative is income based and will give those who meet the criteria, energy efficiency assessments and other improvements to help them save money.
Officials say most customers started finding out if they were eligible and received information on how they can participate. Electric officials say the Customers began receiving information on how to participate in April. No cost installations at homes of those who qualify will begin in begin in May and continue through June.
The manager of the program, Derek McDaniel says,
“The Neighborhood Energy Efficiency Program provides tangible benefits to customers with education and easy-to-follow tips to conserve energy in their homes,” said Derek McDaniel, who manages the program. “By providing free home energy assessments and upgrades, we’re making energy efficiency more accessible in the communities we serve.”
As a part of this energy saving program will have access to energy saving items like LED light bulbs, faucet aerators and low -flow shower heads. Customers will also have access to electric water heater wraps and pipe installation. In addition, residents will also be able to obtain smart power strips, door sweeps, weatherstripping for windows, HVAC filter replacements and digital wall thermometers.
Since its inception in 2013, officials say NEEP has helped customers across the state reduce electricity by making a few small adjustments as well as getting energy education. Dominion Energy says they been so successful at helping area residents, they have help them reserve enough electricity to power and estimated 92,000 households for an entire year.
