Chase, collision on Bush River Road leads to man’s arrest
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff’s Department says a morning chase led to a man’s arrest.
Deputies say around 9 a.m. on Wednesday morning, May 14, they saw a vehicle on Bush River Road with a license plate which did not belong to the vehicle it was on.
When deputies activated their blue lights and sirens, the suspect fled through the Dutch Square Mall parking lot, entered onto Dutch Square Blvd, and continued to flee down Bush River Road towards I-20, says RCSD.
The chase ended when the suspect’s vehicle ran a red light and hit another vehicle at the intersection of Bush River Road and I-20.
The driver of the vehicle was later identified as 53-year-old David Quattlebaum.
RCSD says he was removed from his vehicle and taken into custody without incident.
After identifying Quattlebaum, deputies say records showed he was driving with a suspended driver’s license.
Two other people were removed from Quattlebaum’s vehicle and all three were taken by EMS for non-life-threatening injuries.
The two people in the vehicle that was hit by Quattlebaum were uninjured.
David Quattlebaum is charged with use of another license plate, driving under suspension 2nd, reckless driving, and failure to stop for blue lights 2nd offense with bodily injury.
Quattlebaum will be taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
