SCHP: Pedestrian hit, killed in Sumter on Tuesday

SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– South Carolina Highway Patrol troopers say a pedestrian was hit and killed in Sumter on Tuesday, May 13.

It happened on U.S. Highway 15 at Lakewood Drive before 9 p.m.

Troopers said the driver of a 2004 Chevy Silverado was heading south on US-15 when it collided with the pedestrian.

The victim who died at the hospital was later identified as 45-year-old Clarendon County resident James McCoy by the Sumter County Coroner’s Office.

The driver of the Silverado was not injured and the incident remains under investigation.
