Newberry Co. deputies searching for person accused of entering store with assault rifle

 

 

NEWBERRY COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Newberry County deputies are searching for someone accused of entering a store with an assault rifle, said deputies.

Investigators said around 8:45 p.m. on Friday, May 16, a person entered the Dollar General on US 176 in Pomaria with an assault type rifle and demanded money from a store clerk and a patron.

The person fled from the store toward SC-202.

Deputies searched for the person with dogs and a SLED helicopter, which was already in the area for a missing person in Whitmire, said Newberry County Sheriff’s Office.

Law enforcement said the person is described as a black male who was wearing a heavy black jacket, a scarf/mask across the face, and a hat.
