Lexington Two announces free ‘Summer Food Service’ program
West Columbia, SC (WOLO) — Schools in the Midlands are getting ready to begin their summer breaks. Unfortunately, one thing that does not take a break when school is out of session is hunger. To keep students from having to worry about where they are going to get their next nutritious meal Lexington Two has announced two ways for children to get meals this summer.
Lexington Two is offering area youth access to a federally funded child nutrition program that will allow kids to get free breakfast and lunch until school resumes in the fall. The Summer Food Service Program will make free meals available to anyone ages 18 and under, even if they do not attend Lexington Two schools.
Those who choose to participate are allowed to get one free breakfast, and one free lunch during set hours during the week at the following Lexington Two School locations. The school system has two options for your young one to participate in.
Open Meal Sites and Grab and Go Meal Pick Up. If your child takes part in option one, school officials say they will have to be present in order to get their food and will have to eat on site during set hours during weekdays and at select Lexington Two school sites. Under option two, children can pick up their meals curbside twice a week from 11am – 12:30pm that can be taken home. There are also bundle options available for those who attend camp and children do not have to be present at the time of meal pick up. Keep in mind, all meals are available on a first come first serve basis. Available options, and locations are listed below.
Option One:
Airport High School
Where: 1315 Boston Ave., West Columbia
When: Monday-Thursday, June 2-July 24 (closed June 30-July 4)
Meals: Breakfast, 7:15 a.m.-7:45 a.m.; lunch, 10:45 a.m.-11:45 a.m.
Brookland-Cayce High School
Where: 1300 State St., Cayce
When: Monday-Thursday, June 2-July 24 (closed June 30-July 4)
Meals: Breakfast, 8 a.m.-8:30 a.m.; lunch, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Cayce Elementary School (Tuesday-Thursday, June 10-13)
Where: 515 Bulldog Blvd., Cayce
When: Tuesday-Thursday, June 10-July 13 (closed June 30-July 4)
Meals: Breakfast, 8:30 a.m.-9 a.m.; lunch, 11 a.m.-12 p.m.
Cayce Elementary School (Monday-Thursday, July 14-24)

Riverbank Elementary
