Richland Co., SC (WOLO) — The Richland County Sheriff’s Department has arrested a man suspected of Attempted Murder after being wanted by authorities for nearly a month.

On April 27 officials say an off duty deputy in the area of Kenmore Park Drive heard a gunshot and then witnessed a person on the ground suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. The same deputy then witnessed a car speeding out of the area.

The deputy requested additional deputies respond to the scene and started to render aid to the victim until EMS arrived on the scene at which point the victim was taken to an area hospital.

Investigators used surveillance video obtained from the area surrounding the shooting to identify the car seen fleeing the area. That car was later found abandoned and processed for evidence. Authorities say they were able to zero in on a suspect they believe was driving the car and later identified him as 28 -year-old Khalil Davis. Officials say further investigation help them determine that an argument took place between the victim and Davis before the shooting.

On Tuesday May 20 RCSD says they arrested Davis who is now charged with Attempted Murder, Possession of a Weapon During a Violent Crime, Possession of a Firearm by a Person Convicted of a Violent Offense, Possession of Body Armor by a Violent Felon, and Trafficking Fentanyl.

Davis has been taken to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center where he is still being held on a $150 thousand surety bond.
