RCSD: 2 women arrested, accused of assaulting juvenile
RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott says a mother and her relative has been arrested after assaulting a juvenile.
On April 29, just before 8 p.m., RCSD deputies responded in the 1800 block of Lake Carolina Drive in reference to a fight in progress.
Deputies that arrived to the scene found a small and chaotic crowd, according to RCSD.
RCSD deputies learned that the juvenile who was still at the scene when they arrived was having an ongoing conflict with another juvenile at school.
Investigators say the other juvenile left the scene before they arrived.
Video obtained during the investigation revealed that when the conflict escalated, Autumn Watkins who is the mother of the juvenile that left the scene, as well as another adult family member, Alexi Watkins, assaulted the juvenile that was still at the scene when deputies arrived.
Both Autumn and Alexi Watkins turned themselves in to the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center on May 15.
They were both booked at ASGDC and granted personal recognizance bonds.
Additionally, both women were charged with assault and battery 3rd degree, contributing to the delinquency of a minor, and cruelty toward children.
