RICHLAND COUNTY, S.C. (WOLO)– The Richland One Board of School Commissioners voted Friday to for its new superintendent, say school board officials.
School board officials say they voted to offer the position of superintendent to Dr. Todd Anthony Walker.
Dr. Todd Anthony Walker is currently the chief curriculum and instruction officer in the Columbus City Schools in Columbus, Ohio.
He was one of three finalists selected by the school board from a field of 42 applicants from 12 states.
Walker earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in philosophy from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio; a Master of Education degree in English education and a Doctor of Philosophy degree in education policy and leadership, both from The Ohio State University; and a Juris Doctorate degree in governance and negotiation from Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio.
“On behalf of this Board, I would like to thank our entire community for the engagement they have provided to us throughout this process. It has been invaluable and has demonstrated how much our stakeholders care about this district. I am proud of this Board and how we arrived at this decision, and I know this entire Board is excited to get to work with our next superintendent,” says Richland One Board Chairman Robert Lominack.
BWP & Associates search firm was hired by the board to help conduct a national superintendent search.
Lominack says the next step, upon successful contract negotiations and the Board’s approval, will be to hold an event to provide students, staff, parents and community members an opportunity to meet Dr. Walker.
July 1, 2025, will be the start date for the new superintendent.
